Who May Participate
This contest is open to all Secondary students, currently enrolled in English, attending the 10th. & 11th. Forms in our school.
How to Participate
After reading the beginning of the detective story “The Three Students” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and in about 200 (two hundred) words, participants are required to write the end of the story, paying attention to the clues given and solving the crime as Sherlock Holmes supposedly would.
Competition Details
All entries must be submitted in the school library before 11.59am, on Monday, 26th. April 2010.
All entries must be submitted in print.
Entries must be the sole, original and unpublished work of the participant. Any illegible or plagiarised entries will be disqualified.
Judging
In the evaluation of the texts the following aspects will be taken into consideration:
- Creativity / Originality:
- The most logical solution for the crime
- Content / Use of the English Language:
- The style of the text
- Accuracy / Fluency / Skill
- Diversity of vocabulary
- The observation of the word limit
The results will be announced on the library’s placard on Thursday, 6th. May 2010. All winners will also be notified by their English Teacher.
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the 3 (three) best “detectives”.
